One of my favorite Americans, Ann Coulter, has an excellent column out this week.
We all know why soccer is terrible: any game you can play for 90 minutes and end in a 0-0 tie should isn't a sport, the constant flopping and fake injuries, the non-scoring, the kicking of a ball back and forth for an hour, the non-scoring, the fans, the non-scoring, the players, the non-scoring, etc etc
However, besides of the sheer dullness of the game, there are other reasons Americans should shun soccer. EVERYTHING about it is un-American. The things we value as a nation and a culture are in no way reprsented in that game, and that is A GOOD THING. We don't want to be a nation of soccer players.
As Coulter says: "In soccer, the blame is dispersed and almost no one scores anyway. There are no heroes, no losers, no accountability, and no child's fragile self-esteem is bruised. There's a reason perpetually alarmed women are called "soccer moms," not "football moms."
